Marval MSM is a powerful, well-established service management platform, trusted by organisations to run their IT operations and hold years of valuable service data. But like most mature enterprise systems, it was designed long before AI assistants arrived — and that creates a growing gap between the data these systems hold and the AI tools teams increasingly want to use.
We built a bridge across that gap: a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Marval MSM.
What we built
Our MCP server gives modern AI assistants secure, structured access to Marval’s service management data. Built on the official MCP SDK and grounded in Marval’s REST API, it handles authentication, pagination, intelligent filtering, and incremental data syncing — exposing a clean, governed, read-only interface that AI tools can work with immediately. Crucially, it does this on your terms: you control exactly what the AI can access, and sensitive data stays within your own environment.
Why it matters
MCP has rapidly become the industry standard for connecting AI to real-world systems, now supported across every major AI platform. But there’s a catch — an AI assistant can only work with a system if that system exposes an MCP interface, and established enterprise platforms rarely do. This is where the real opportunity lies.
With an MCP server in place, the possibilities open up quickly: teams can query service data in plain language, surface insights from years of operational history, automate routine lookups, and let AI assistants do meaningful work against systems that were never built with AI in mind — all without replacing the platform they depend on.
